Our main focus is Syria, however, we also provide our services for countries affected by disaster and conflict, large internal or external displacement, and the host countries of refugees.
As Syria emerges from over a decade of brutal conflict, a deadly legacy remains—one that does not discriminate does not expire, and continues to claim lives daily. Landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO) litter vast swathes of the country, posing an immediate and long-term threat to civilians returning to rebuild their lives. In the past two months alone, at least 45 civilians, including six children and four women, have been killed by landmine explosions. As millions of displaced Syrians begin their journey home, they unknowingly step into a landscape riddled with deadly remnants of war.
